Stampin' Write™ Marker Variegated Image Card

Friends, today I'm sharing the 3rd of my series using Stampin' Write™ Markers as ink. Did you know you can use them to colour right onto stamps?

Helpful Hint: Using Stampin' Blends™ to colour on stamps is not advised, as the alcohol may degrade the stamps.

If you missed my previous Stampin' Write™ Marker cards, find them here:

Here's today's card:

To make this card, I started by using the brush tip of a Misty Moonlight Stampin' Write™ Marker to thoroughly cover my sentiment stamp. My stamps come from the now-retired Seaside Bay set, but any stamp set could be substituted. I stamped the sentiment onto a 3/4" x 2 3/4" Fresh Freesia Cardstock strip. I also cut a chevron into the right edge.

To create the variegated mussel shell image, I started by thoroughly brushing the stamp with my Bubble Bath Stampin' Write™ Marker. I then added a few strokes of first Fresh Freesia and then Azure Afternoon Stampin' Write™ Markers. I finished by using my Misty Moonlight Stampin' Write™ Marker to outline the shell. Then I stamped onto a scrap of Basic White Cardstock and used the coordinating dies to cut out the shell.

I love the way that layering up the different colours of Stampin' Write™ Markers can create such an intricate-looking colour mix in just seconds! Here's one of the marker sets:

To assemble, I adhered an embossed 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" Basic White Cardstock panel to a 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" Pretty Peacock Cardstock panel. (The embossing folder is now retired, but So Swirly would be a great alternative.)

Next, I used the dies to cut out a shell from Fresh Freesia Cardstock, plus some greenery and a shell from now-retired specialty paper. (Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy Cardstock could be substituted.) I also used Stylish Shapes Dies to cut a circle from Meandering Meadows DSP. I then layered on all of the die cuts.

Here's a look at the beautiful Meandering Meadows DSP, which can be used in a surprising number and type of projects:

I embellished the panel with now-retired sequins. A great substitute would be the Adhesive-Backed Sequins Trio. My final step was adding the completed panel to a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Basic White Thick Cardstock card base with Stampin' Dimensionals™.

Friends, I hope you enjoyed this project and will try out using Stampin' Write™ Markers as ink! It's a really fun technique with lots of possibilities.
