Friends, today I'm starting a series on how to use Stampin' Write™ markers as inks. Did you know that you can use these water-based markers to colour right on your stamps?

Helpful Hint: However, steer clear of colouring on your stamps with Stampin' Blends™. They are alcohol-based and thus can degrade your stamps over time.

This card comes from my recent online class that featured using Stampin' Write™ Markers as Ink. Find out more about my current online classes here.

When I scheduled that class, the Seaside Bay Stamp Set used in this card was not yet retired. Since the set has since been discontinued, you might substitute a current seashore-themed set, such as the terrific new Seaside Wishes.

To make this card, I started by using the brush tips of my markers to create the stamped images. First, I brushed my sentiment stamp thoroughly with my Azure Afternoon Stampin' Write™ marker and stamped it onto Basic White Cardstock. (I suggest trying it out on scrap paper a few times first, to gauge the juiciness of the marker and how it interacts with the stamp & paper. Then, once you're satisfied with the result, stamp it onto your cardstock.) I used Paper Snips scissors to cut out the sentiment.

Next, I brushed the oyster shell stamp thoroughly with the brush tip of my Bubble Bath Stampin' Write™ marker. I used the brush tip of my Fresh Freesia marker to outline the shell, then brush in a few strokes of colour randomly. I stamped the image onto Basic White Cardstock. The result was a subtly variegated image, blending the two colours together. Using the coordinating dies, I cut out the shell.

I then added an embellishment as the pearl. The Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls are perfect for this, in terms of both iridescent finish and size:

To assemble, I attached together (using household tape on the back) a 1 1/2" x 5" strip of Thoughtful Journey DSP and a 2" x 5" strip of Boho Blue Cardstock that I'd first embossed with the Seaside Wishes Hybrid Embossing Folder.

I added a strip of Silver & White Sheer Ribbon across the panel, securing on the back with Mini Glue Dots™. I adhered the panel to a 4" x 5 1/4" Basic White Cardstock panel. Then I tied a bow, trimmed, and used a Mini Glue Dot™ to add it to the left of the panel.

Also using Mini Glue Dots™, I layered on some bits of greenery that I'd die cut, using Lost Lagoon Cardstock and 2024-2026 In Color™ Glimmer Specialty Paper. (There are greenery dies included in the Seaside Wishes Dies that would work well here, too.) The super-sparkly Glimmer Paper comes in all 5 new In Colors™ and is sure to be a favourite:

Using Stampin' Dimensionals, I added the decorated panel to a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Bubble Bath Cardstock card base. The finishing touch was layering on the shell and sentiment.
