My card today features a number of retiring items, plus a technique that allows you to colour your ribbon! I'll include a clickable photo supply list at the end of this post.
For now, here's the terrific Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon, just $3.90 in the sale:
To make the card, I started by colouring the ribbon, using the brush tip of Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends (dark). Stampin' Blends are a great choice as they are alcohol markers, which deposit the ink permanently into the fabric. Regular markers are water-based and won't work in the same way.
Tip: I placed several layers of paper under the ribbon, as the alcohol markers bleed through both ribbon and paper. Then I set aside the ribbon to dry thoroughly while making the rest of the card.
Next, I stamped my sentiment in Sweet Sorbet Ink onto the top of a 3 3/4" x 5" Basic White Cardstock panel. I used the soon-to-retire Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set:
To assemble, I started by adhering a 1 3/4" x 5" strip of Petal Pink Cardstock to the white panel. I added a 5" strip of bicycle-themed Country Floral Lane DSP. This beautiful paper is retiring May 1st or whenever it sells out, so get it while you can! I then adhered the white panel to a 4" x 5 1/4" Sweet Sorbet Cardstock panel. I added both panels to a 4 1/4" x 11" Mint Macaron Cardstock card base using Stampin' Dimensionals™.
To make the hearts, I used the Country Bouquet Punch. The large heart is punched from Country Floral Lane DSP, while the two smaller hearts are from Mint Macaron Cardstock. I used Stampin' Dimensionals™ to attach the large heart and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals™ on the small hearts.
The Country Bouquet Punch matches and punches out the large heart & leaf pattern in the Country Floral Lane DSP. Here's a look at the punch, which is on low inventory right now, so order soon to avoid disappointment:
To finish the card, I tied a bow in my coloured ribbon, securing it with Mini Glue Dots™. Then I embellished with Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels, which are also on sale as a retiring item. I find the Take Your Pick™tool - putty end - helps me pick up and place these tiny jewels:
Friends, I hope you enjoyed the ribbon-colouring technique and this project. I'd love to see what you do with it!
