Painted Poppies Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are a wonderful way to help express our compassion for someone in a time of loss. And it's a great idea to have a few available, just in case. Today's design is a perfect fit:

This card is another lovely design by American demonstrator Lyssa Zwolanek, which I tweaked slightly. It features the Painted Poppies stamp set, Peaceful Moments stamp set, and Painted Labels Dies. (If you missed yesterday's birthday card featuring these same products, click here.)

I started by cutting out a Basic White fancy circle label with the dies, stamping the sentiment in Poppy Parade. Then I stamped a poppy in Tuxedo Black onto a piece of Basic White Scrap, coloured it with a Poppy Parade Stampin' Blend (Dark), and used the dies to cut it out. From there, I stamped the small poppies onto the bottom of a 4" x 5 1/4" Basic White panel in Tuxedo Black. I used Stampin' Blends to add colour: Poppy Parade (Dark) for the flowers, Granny Apple Green (Dark) for outlining the stems, and Granny Apple Green (Light) to brush in some grass between the stems.

To assemble the card, I adhered the white poppy panel to a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Poppy Parade card base, then attached the label and poppy to the card with dimensionals. Finally, I added some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
