Bottled Happiness Card & Blog Hop

Warm greetings from Canada! In case we haven't yet met, I'm Julie Golding Page, an Independent Stampin' Up!® demonstrator living on the Atlantic coast of Canada. Our town of Saint Stephen is just across the tidal Skutik/Saint Croix River from Calais, Maine, USA.

Friends, today I'm excited to participate in Kylie Bertucci's Monthly International Blog Highlights Gallery!

We blog hop across the Stampin' Up!® world, seeing multitudes of fantastic cards. Then everyone who views the cards gets to vote for their favourites!

Vote for my card here.

The theme for our cards is thank you. A handmade card is a lovely way to offer a word of kindness and gratitude.

When I first saw the Vintage Bottle Shaker Domes, I immediately thought it would be fun to use them for a message in a bottle card. So here's my card, which works well for both thank you and other greetings:

I'll include a clickable photo supply list at the end of this post.

To make this card, I started by die cutting a small circle from Crumb Cake Cardstock, using the Stylish Shapes Dies. I stamped my sentiment from the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set on it in Pretty Peacock Ink.

Next, I adhered a 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece of Earthen Elegance DSP (Pretty Peacock pattern) to the left side of a Kraft Note Card. They come already cut, with matching envelopes, so I find they're very convenient to have on hand. I also added a 2" x 4" strip of Fresh as a Daisy DSP (Wild Wheat pattern) into which I'd cut a chevron shape.

Here's the Earthen Elegance DSP, which I chose for its seaside colours matching my message in a bottle theme:

I then assembled the message in the bottle. I first rolled a small piece of Distressed Gold Specialty Paper as tightly as I could, then knotted it with Simply Elegant Trim (Gold). This formed my message scroll.

I flipped the Vintage Bottle Shaker Dome onto its back, so it was open on top, and placed the little scroll inside.

I peeled off the adhesive backing from the open side of the bottle dome, then stuck a 1 1/2" x 3" piece of Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper to it, glittery side down. Tip: Ensure that the paper covers the entire dome and all of its edges.

Next, used the Vintage Bottle Punch to punch through a 1 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Fresh as a Daisy DSP (from the sheet with the separate card images). I flipped over the dome onto its front so that I could see the scroll inside. I peeled off the adhesive coating from the front of the dome and adhered the DSP securely around the dome. I then added the dome to the card.

To finish the card, I used Stampin' Dimensionals™ to attach the stamped circle.

To the bottle's neck, I also added a small bow made from Simply Elegant Trim (Gold), securing with a Mini Glue Dot™. My final step was embellishing with Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.
