Friends, today I have another card from my recent Rhino Ready class. If you missed the previous card, find it here.
Today's card is my riff on one designed by Patty Bennett, a demonstrator in the San Francisco area.
Here's my version, with instructions below:
To make this card, I started by using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the rhino from the Rhino Ready Stamp Set onto a scrap of Basic White Cardstock. I used the same ink to stamp the sentiment onto a 1/2" tall scrap of Basic White Cardstock, then cut chevrons into both edges.
Next, I coloured the rhino and bird with Smoky Slate and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends™. I used the Rhino Ready Dies to cut out the rhino, plus some leaves from 2022-2024 In Color™ Glimmer Paper.
Both the dies and paper are no longer available, so I'd suggest using Paper Snips scissors to cut out the rhino, and die-cutting some leaves from Parakeet Party Cardstock with another die set in your stash.
I then started on the pièce de résistance of this card: the beautiful blended background. To make it, I first cut a 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" panel of the Naturally Gilded Specialty DSP pictured above.
Next, I used Blending Brushes to add Parakeet Party Ink to the bottom half of the panel, working in from the edges with a circular motion. Then I repeated the process on the top half of the panel with Tahitian Tide Ink. I blended the two colours together in the middle.
To assemble, I adhered my blended panel to a 4" x 5 1/4" Basic White Cardstock panel and attached them to a 4 1/4" x 11" Basic White Thick Cardstock card base with Stampin' Dimensionals™. I added the leaves, sentiment, and rhino using Mini Glue Dots™ and Stampin' Dimensionals™.
