Julie Golding Page: Taco Fiesta Card & Blog Hop

Warm greetings from Saint Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada! I'm located just across the Skutik (St Croix) River from Calais, Maine, USA. This beautiful place (on both sides of the border) is the traditional territory and home of the Passamaquoddy, and I'm grateful that they share it with us.

My card features the wonderfully whimsical Taco Fiesta Stamp Set, Delicate Desert DSP, and Tailored Tags Dies. I'll include a clickable photo supply list for you at the end of this post.

My colour scheme is Calypso Coral plus 3 of the 2021-2023 In Colors: Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent, and a touch of Evening Evergreen. I wanted to highlight the 2021-2023 In Colors because they'll be retiring at the end of April. Items featuring retiring In Colors tend to start selling out some weeks before official retirement, so I hope my card will encourage you to buy the 2021-2023 In Color items you love now, and avoid disappointment later. The 5 retiring colours are: Polished Pink, Pale Papaya, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, and Fresh Freesia.

To make this card, I started by using Tailor Made Tags Dies to cut a Basic White Cardstock tag. On it I stamped my image from the Taco Fiesta Stamp Set in Soft Succulent, then the face and sentiment in Calypso Coral. To finish the tag, I tied a knot through it with Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon.

Next, I cut, scored, and folded a 4 1/4" x 11" Pale Papaya card base. Then I used Stampin' Seal to layer on three panels: a 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Delicate Desert DSP, a 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" strip of Calypso Coral Cardstock, and a 2" x 5 1/2" piece of DSP. This beautiful DSP makes me think of our wonderful trip of desert hiking in Palm Springs, California, for our 25th anniversary a few years back. Just look at the lovely desert-inspired patterns and colours:

To finish the card, I attached the stamped tag with Stampin' Dimensionals, then embellished with 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds. These translucent embellishments with a bit of sparkle come in the 5 colours retiring this April:
