Bird's Eye View Diagonal Card

Friends, today I have a second card to share from my recent online Bird's Eye View Class.

This card features a fun diagonal detail in the middle of the card, which I've just learned to do.

Here's my card:

I'll include a clickable photo supply list at the end of this post.

To make this card, I started by stamping my sentiment from the Irresistible Blooms Stamp Set in Pretty Peacock Ink onto a 3/4" x 2 3/4" scrap of Fresh Freesia Cardstock.

I also stamped one of the birds from the Bird's Eye View Stamp Set in Berry Burst Ink onto a scrap of Basic White Cardstock. Using Paper Snips scissors, I cut it out.

Here's a closer look at the Irresistible Blooms Stamp Set, from which I've drawn my sentiment stamp. I chose this set because I like the bold yet friendly and decorative fonts.

Next, I adhered a 3 3/4" x 5" panel of Delightful Floral DSP to a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of Fresh Freesia Cardstock.

To make the diagonal cut-out, I started with a 3 3/4" x 5" panel of the DSP. I cut off the bottom right corner. Then I turned the paper so that the cut line from that corner lined up along the 2 1/4" line on my trimmer. I cut again. This cut removes the opposite corner of the panel and leaves a diagonal piece that is 2 1/4" wide. (I tried this on scrap paper first, to make sure the cuts would come out as anticipated.) If you keep the corners you cut off, you can use them in another project.

I then adhered one long side of my diagonal piece to a 1/2" x 6" scrap of Fresh Freesia Cardstock, placing the cardstock behind the DSP. This creates a border around the DSP. I repeated this process with the other long side of my diagonal DSP. When both scraps of cardstock were adhered, I trimmed the excess cardstock bits from the short ends of the diagonal piece.

I was left with a piece of DSP and attached cardstock border that would exactly fit the diagonal of my 3 3/4" x 5" DSP. I adhered the diagonal piece to the panel.

To finish the panel, I embellished with the above Glossy Dots Assortment. I also added my sentiment and bird image using Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I adhered the completed panel to a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Basic White Thick Cardstock card base with Stampin' Dimensionals™.
