So Refreshing - Top Ten International Highlights Winners Blog Hop July 2023

Friends new and old, I'm delighted to welcome you to my blog!

I'm Julie Golding Page, located in eastern Canada along the tidal Skutik or Saint Croix River, in Saint Stephen, New Brunswick - just across from Calais, Maine, USA. This is the traditional territory and home of the Passamaquoddy, and I'm grateful that they share this beautiful place with us.

I'm so excited to have placed in the Top Ten Winners of Kylie Bertucci's International Highlights for July!

Our theme is thank you. While it's meant specifically for our customers, it seems particularly important these days to say a simple thanks.

Those around us - friends, family, service providers, and even kind strangers - add so much to our lives. Why not give away a friendly thank you card today?

I'm honoured to share my thank you card with you:

The use of circles and pastel colours is actually inspired by a great card my daughter made a couple of years ago, when she was 10. I really liked the effect! With those elements in place, I created my overall design.

My card features the lovely So Refreshing Stamp Set. Since we're in the heat of summer here in Canada, lemonade came immediately to mind!

So Refreshing can be purchased as a Stamp Set or Bundle.

To make this card, I first did the die cutting:

  • 2nd largest circle from Basic White Cardstock, using Stylish Shapes Dies
  • 3rd smallest circle from Basic White Cardstock, using Stylish Shapes Dies
  • large tag from Basic White Cardstock, using Waves Dies
  • largest scalloped rectangle from Subtles DSP (Lemon Lolly), using Scalloped Contours Dies
Stylish Shapes Dies are a go-to for me, since they're useful in so many projects:

I stamped the pitcher outline, glass outline, and sentiment onto my die cuts using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I also added a line near the top of the glass image, using a black marker.

Using Lemon Lolly Ink, I stamped two lemons and cut them out.

Next, I coloured the images, using Bubble Bath (Dark) and Balmy Blue (Light) Stampin' Blends™.

To assemble, I used Stampin' Dimensionals™ and Mini Glue Dots™ to layer the circles and lemons onto my scalloped rectangle. The Subtles DSP it's made from has so many versatile patterns:

From there, I fed a length of Balmy Blue & White Double-Stitched Ribbon through my tag and also through the holes in the edges of the scalloped rectangle, securing it on the back with Mini Glue Dots™. I added a bow.

Then I used Stampin' Dimensionals™ to attach the scalloped rectangle to my 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Bubble Bath Cardstock card base. My final step was embellishing with Classic Matte Dots.

Friends, thanks so much for joining me today. Have fun hopping around to all the wonderful cards!
