How about one more Storybook Gnomes Suite card, friends? This time we'll focus on the Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper (DSP).
The first thing you might notice about this card is that there actually aren't any gnomes! It's a great example of how you can use a suite geared to one particular thing - but do something rather different. All you need is a little creativity!
I loved the wintry forest animal pattern in the DSP, so I decided to make the animals the focus of my card. I started with black ink, stamping the sentiment of my choice from the Kindest Gnomes stamp set. The label is cut from the Stylish Shapes Dies.
Next I prepared a Thick White 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card base. I cut a 1 1/2" x 5" strip of Balmy Blue Cardstock and embossed it with the snowflake pattern from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders. I really like this folder set, as it also comes with an evergreen bough folder. And they both work in the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Once I'd cut a 2 1/2" x 5" DSP strip, I attached it to the embossed piece by simply using household tape on the back. Then I added a length of White 3/4" Frayed Ribbon to hide the seam, securing it on the back, and attached the label.
To finish the assembly, I added the whole panel to a 4" x 5 1/4" Basic White Cardstock piece, then used dimensionals to adhere that to the card base. The embellishments were the final touch: an iridescent foil Wonderful Snowflake and some Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems.
I chose to use the animal print from the DSP, but the card would look completely different with another pattern choice. This design could also be easily adapted for any DSP, embellishments, and colour scheme. What will you make, friends?
