Decorated with Happiness Christmas Greetings Card

Oh, the weather outside is frightful...we've had a special weather statement and rainfall warning here in southwestern New Brunswick. But that's OK - what better time for holiday crafting, when you can't be outside? So here's my Christmas card for today, which was part of our recent $10/month card class at Creative Cafe:

Another card featuring the Decorated with Happiness Bundle, this one features an unusual colour palette for the holidays. (If you missed the other cards, check them out here and here.) I love something a little different colour-wise - especially when it comes to seasonal colours - and here I was inspired by the Crushed Curry and Basic Black starry midnight sky paper from the super-versatile Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper (DSP). I matched that up with a Crushed Curry card base, a strip of Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper, and a panel of Basic Black Cardstock embossed with the snowflake pattern from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders. 

To make the card, I started by cutting out a fancy round label with the Painted Labels Dies, using Basic White Cardstock. Then I stamped the sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink. I also stamped one of each ornament onto scraps of Basic White, using Shaded Spruce and Poppy Parade inks. Then I used the dies to cut them out.

From there, I embossed just the top half of a 3 3/4" x 5" Basic Black panel. I then cut a 2 1/2" x 3 1/4" DSP panel on an angle and adhered it to the black panel. To hide the seam and add some sparkle, I cut a 1/2" wide strip of the gold metallic paper and attached it to the panel, then I flipped over the panel and trimmed the edges. 

Using dimensionals, I added the die-cut ornaments and label, then I embellished with Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The final step was to attach the finished panel to a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Crushed Curry card base with dimensionals.
