Seaside Bay Window Card & Blog Hop

Wintry greetings, friends, from Saint Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada! I'm located in a border town just across from Calais, Maine, USA, along the Skutik/Saint Croix River, home of the Peskotomuhkati/Passamaquoddy people.

Today I'm pleased to welcome folks from around the Stampin' Up!® world for our blog hop. You'll find cards from Austalia, Canada, and the USA - all by fellow members of the Inspirations in Ink group. Look for the links to everyone's projects near the end of this post.

This month's blog hop - and our upcoming tutorial bundle for February - features the gorgeous Seaside Bay Bundle. Ce produit est également disponible en français. My project also includes the fabulous matching By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). Since I live right by the Bay of Fundy, home of the highest tides in the world, this Bundle really resonates!

Here's my card:

I started by cutting the 2nd smallest tag out of Basic White Cardstock, using one of the two tag sets in the Tailor Made Tags Dies. (Either tag set will work.) Then I stamped my sentiment in Mint Macaron ink. That's it for stamping!

Next, I created the window card. I began by cutting a 4 1/4" x 11" card base, then adhering a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of DSP to the front. I chose a pattern that reminded me of paint on a boat. I used the middle die (4th largest and 4th smallest) from Layering Diorama Dies to cut a window. Then, using Stampin' Seal Plus, I adhered a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of Window Sheets to the back of the window in the card. I then cut a window from a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of Mint Macaron Cardstock, using the 3rd smallest of the Layering Diorama Dies. Before I cut, I tried different orientations of the die to see which shape combination I liked best - and exactly where I needed to cut into the panel. Then I adhered the window panel to the back of the window in the card base, hiding where I had adhered the Window Sheet.

For decorating, I die cut several seashells and plants from By the Bay DSP and Gold Foil Sheets. Then I added the decorations to the card front using Mini Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals. I also added a bow made from doubled Simply Elegant Trim.

To complete the card, I used the 3rd largest Layering Diorama Die to cut a piece of Gold Foil Sheets. Onto that I layered a piece of fish-themed DSP, cut with the middle-sized Layering Diorama Die. Then I adhered the two pieces to the interior of the card, so that the fish are visible through the window - almost as if seen through a glass-bottomed boat.

Here's a view through the card's window:
